Schuss Serif Pro

I was working about 10 years exclusively for a type company. Based on my experiences, I built this superfamily.
Schuss™ Sans PCG is a humanistic sans-serif with a little contrast. Small Caps, greek and cyrillic are included. Also tab, prop, lining, old style and small cap figures. It’s a typeface with clear and open characters. All complicated shapes are cleaned and simplified with a bit elegance.
Schuss™ Slab Pro is a slab serif, based on the Schuss™ Sans.
Schuss™ News Pro is the modeled style between Schuss™ Slab Pro and Schuss™ Serif Pro. Schuss™ Serif Pro is the antiqua shape.

Additionally all serifs are cleaned up. There is just one-side-serif in the “n” for example. Tab figures (except small caps), mathematical signs and currency symbols have a width system accross all styles and weights.

Coop Blackletter's core concept was to create a more friendly blackletter typeface by pulling together two very different sources of inspiration. The design is a synthesis of the rounded, affable features and heavier weight of Cooper Black with the underlying composition and calligraphic contrast of a Fraktur. It's kinda chunky, soft around the edges, and not entirely unreadable.

Marita combines sternness with swing and, from this, develops its own, unique elegance. This makes Marita quite versatile, also and especially for headline settings. Apart from numerous ligatures, the font also includes old style figures. Marita is based on brush writing with drop-shaped serifs. The idea was to try to apply a given design approach (also see Volker Schnebel’s Manuel and Martin fonts) to every single character. In other words, start with a character and develop all of the others from it. This is quite easy for some characters but extremely difficult for others. This process generates creativity and the characters move away from the initial constructed sketch. Together in a typeface, the individual characters are now all of a piece and character.

The first thought that crosses a type designer’s mind upon seeing a slab serif is: I wonder what it would look if it was serifless. And so, after building Henderson Slab, I followed my instincts and gave it a sans serif companion.
Henderson Sans comes in seven weights plus italics, each of which casting an eye on the crafty lettering origins of what is now the ubiquitous mode of corporate communication. This sans serif is a glyph-for-glyph match for Henderson Slab, inheriting pretty much all of its features and quirks, like the wealth or alternates and swashed variants — simple, endearing or otherwise.

Where the heck does a name like Chaloops come from? You know that Chihuahua that used to sell the tacos? Chank’s mother-in-law calls him Chalupa. And the American pluralization for that must be Chaloops, because that’s her nickname for her two little spoiled fuzzball dogs.
