Like most military actions, United started out as a simple typographical incursion that became entrenched in the House Industries quagmire of creative projects. Tal Leming toiled for the next three years to build on the original concept and develop one of the most extensive font families available anywhere. With a nearly monolinear stroke width and unique construction, PIN is intended to be mixed and matched liberally: lighter weights adjacent to darker ones, stencil alongside solid, etcetera—a type family in the traditional sense of the word. PIN is available in three styles and three weights, comprising a family of nine cuts, each with wide language support and generous OpenType features.

Using old typewriter fonts as a reference, a new typewriter-esque font was created. Initially created in a bold weight for the identity of ‘Peggs & son.’, the typeface was lightened to a regular weight and an extended character set created. Using the crassness of printed typewriter faces, certain bowls of the letterforms don’t connect to create a unique attribute to the typeface.
