Modesto Open Font Family

Modesto is a loose-knit group of Font Families based on a signpainting lettering style popular in the late-19th and early-20th centuries. It evolved from the lettering I used for the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus Logo. The Modesto family was not planned. It just happened, a few fonts at a time over about fifteen years. In 2014 seven new Italic fonts and two Chromatic families were added.

Balboa Plus Font Family

Balboa Plus is a condensed sans serif display family. It was originally conceived as a simple black and white typeface. But it seemed unfinished, begging for something more. I decided to try adding a couple layers of fill and detail to try and make it interesting. The result is this four-layer chromatic font family. The Primary Font is the Main Font. The other fonts ( Fill, Inline, and Gradient) only exist to support the Primary Font. The Fill font should sit behind the Primary font (there is a little color trapping going on). The rest is even easier.

Cojonna Font

The »Cojonna« typeface combines the elegance and static quiescence of a Didone with playful swirls and pronounced, decorative ball terminals. Initial point for the typeface was an Antiqua with slab-like serifs, a strong contrast between thick and thin lines and wide ascender and descender. In huge type sizes and short text lines the font unfolds its character and provides a display-font for decorative and playful useage of typography in editorial design, the design of logos or packaging design.
