Alcala Font Family

This font is based on the study of the document titled “Biblia poliglota complutense” aka "Bible polyglotte d'Alcala". It was the first edition of a complete polyglot Bible as well as the first printed version of New Testament in Greek, of the Septante and Targoum Onkelos. Conceived between 1502 and 1517, she was thought, financed and largely supervised by the cardinal Francisco Jimenez de Cisneros. The first drawings were carried out in 1995 and begun again in 2011 for the publication by a publishing house of a complete Bible based on the revised translation of J. NR. Darby, in French and Malgache.

Academy was designed circa 1910 at the Berthold type foundry (St.-Petersburg). It was based on Sorbonne (H. Berthold, Berlin, 1905), which represented the American Type Founders rework Cheltenham of 1896 (designers Bertram G. Goodhue, Morris F. Benton) and Russian typefaces of the mid-18th century. A low-contrast text typeface with historical flavor. The modern digital version was designed at Poligrafmash type design bureau in 1989 by Lyubov Kuznetsova. Corrections and additions were done later in ParaType in early 2000th. Reworked version with Bold Italic style was released in 2009.

Diodrum Arabic Font Family

Diodrum Arabic is a low-contrast Naskh family with six weights. The typeface has been optimised for corporate identity work, editorial design, and UI/UX projects. Arabic typically places a stronger emphasis on the horizontal than the Latin script does. Since both the Arabic and the Latin letterforms in Diodrum are monolinear, we have employed another method to increase the prominence of horizontality: the counterforms are large and open, and the letters’ middle sections are accentuated. Many of Diodrum’s strokes begin or end with lightly-sheared lines; these subtle angles add a trace of calligraphy back into the static language of sans serifs. The same is true for the typeface’s Arabic-script dots and marks.

Equitan Sans Font Family

Part of the Equitan super family, Equitan Sans and Equitan Slab are ready for branding projects and packaging design. They serve up industrial-era letterforms, refreshed for a new century. Each of the seven weights has an upright and a italic variant, with 418 glyphs per font. The default numeral style in all 14 fonts are proportional oldstyle figures. Thanks to OpenType features, tabular versions are also available, as well as lining figures. Equitan Sans, with its closed apertures and arched shapes, resembles nineteenth century grotesques without becoming sterile, like so many mid-twentieth century neogrotesks. Wherever possible, counterforms are rounded, such as in b, d, p, q, 6, or 9 – even the bottom counter of the two-storey ‘g’ is round. The most recognisable character in Equitan Sans is the lowercase ‘y’, which has a straight tail instead of a diagonal one.

Expose Font Family

Expose is a constructed sans typeface for headlines and general editorial work. It looks like it has taken letterforms drafted by engineers and crossed these with avant-garde remixes of typewriter faces. As a family, Expose includes four fonts, ranging in weight from Regular through Black. Newspaper headlines need to be compact, and the counters inside of Expose’s letters help the design achieve this by being almost squared off. Something similar happens with the diagonal strokes, too: several diagonals change direction towards one end of their stroke. While Expose’s design is proportionally-spaced, its design does feel somewhat fixed-width – especially in its capital letters. Unusual for a constructed-style sans, Expose’s fonts make use of the double-storied form for the ‘g’.

Editor Font Family

Newspaper headlines dwell in the realm immediacy, and the right typeface will capture attention in an instant. Editor and Editor Condensed are two such families. They each feature prominent wedge-shaped serifs and visible stroke contrast. Several letterform details retain a calligraphic feeling, too. The tops of uppercase letters, numerals, and ascenders all align with one another, and all of the fonts feature large diacritics.

Karl-Heinz Lange presented his first drafts of Rotola during a Typoart® type design competition in 1985 under the name “Boutique”. A year later, Norbert du Vinage, former manager of the type design department, integrated “Boutique” in his production plan. Due the Fall of the Wall, it took about 18 years until Lange finished this font family in cooperation with Elsner+Flake.
